About CTcoin A/S

A tale of international success

The early 1970s saw the beginning of a true export fairytale in the Danish city of Odense, the home town of Hans Christian Andersen. The Danish firm Rosenkvist, a former dealer in office supplies, started manufacturing machines for counting and sorting coins. With that, CTcoin was established as an independent company and since that CTcoin has grown from being a minor family business to an international enterprise supplying counting and sorting machines to more than 50 countries worldwide.

Strong network of distributors

CTcoin has built a strong network of distributors all over the world. The relationship between CTcoin and its distributors is the foundation of the company’s success in the export markets and is based on great mutual respect with constructive dialogue, sharing of experience and all-round training of staff being some of the key words.

State-of-the-art product development

CTcoin has always targeted its efforts at improving what was already good, so that what works well today will work even better tomorrow. A case in point is the sensors registering coins in the counting machines. The first coin sensors were based on simple light detection and inductive metal sensors that simply detected when the coins passed the sensors. Later on, these sensors became even more sophisticated in that they could now recognise the coin alloy and consequently reject counterfeit coins. Today, CTcoin has already launched coin counters with fourth generation alloy sensors based on 7 parameters including coin alloy, thickness and diameter.

CTcoin's know-how

CTcoin's know-how consists in optimising the complex interaction between sensor technology, software and mechanical knowledge. Many years of experience from the export markets has perfectioned this know-how and resulted in a sharp distinction of the coins. CTcoin’s ability to incorporate the results of the technological development has been manifested by the use of the trend of smaller components. This has allowed CTcoin to use smaller electronics with extended possibilities for design.

Research and Development

In 1998 CTcoin chose to let the most innovative and experienced engineers form a separate Research & Development Department. The R&D team is responsible for new product development and product improvement and it works together with a wide network of consulting companies, which ensures that CTcoin also in the future will be on the edge of development.

When design counts

In the late 1990s CTcoin commenced a successful collaboration with Bang & Olufsen designer David Lewis. The result has been unique products with a modern design that meets the requirements of our clients to incorporate cash handling equipment in modern bank and office environments.

The Confederation of Danish Industries’ Initiative Award 2002

In 2003, His Royal Highness Price Joachim presented CTcoin with the Confederation of Danish Inudstries’ (DI) Initiative Award for the company’s extraordinary ability to translate new ideas into growth.

Note counters

More recently, also note counters have been included in the CTcoin product range, and e.g. the Dolphin series of note counters has conquered the world. Ever since the introduction a few years ago ago, the sales has been increasing rapidly and Dolphin has been taken to the heart by customers around the world and in South Africa alone CTcoin has sold more than 10,000 units.
